How do I setup Wireless connection on my Xtreamer?

Enter the Settings menu on your Xtreamer and go to Network tab. Choose Wireless setup and then search for the available connections.
Choose your home network SSID from the list and press OK to enter the encryption code.

Known issues (ver 2.1.3)

1. "DHCP not ready" message - Xtreamer cannot establish a connection.
2. Xtreamer looses connection with the Wireless network
3. Files "stutter" during playback over Wireless

Our R&D team is aware of these issues and working to fix them.


Tips and temporary fixes.

To improve your wireless connectivity and performance you can:

1. Use router channels 1 or 11.
2. 20 MHz channel width.
3. Router wireless Band: 2.4 GHz only
4. Some people solved these issues by connecting the antenna to a 1-1.5 meter USB extension cable.
5. You might want to change your router settings from N to B+G

Hidden SSID workaround (by potnoodles)

There are 3 methods to secure your wireless access point(AP or WAP)/router
1.Allowed list of MAC addresses (you should be using this if you can)
2.WEP or WPA encrytion keys (you should also be using one of these)
3.Hidden SSID (this should also be employed)

The Hidden SSID means the AP doesnt broadcast its name (eg "BT_Openhub") so the AP does broadcast its presence but the name of it shows as [BLANK] to anyone doing a scan. On a PC you have to manually enter the(hidden) SSID for these connections to work - effectively another password so you should rename your SSID to something not easily guessed and not use the common ones provided by ISP modem routers.

You may have discovered (as I did today) that you cant connect Xt wireless to a hidden SSID as you cannot manually enter the SSID in settings.

Workaround is simple - but do it quickly - to minimise SSID exposure.

Turn off/disable hidden SSID on the WAP/router.
restart the AP(access point)(see note below)
Scan/Connect the Xtreamer wireless.
Select the now not hidden SSID and OK to connect
Enter your security key (WEP or WPA)
Once the connection is established (with the same name as the SSID) back to the WAP/router and turn on/enable hidden SSID.
restart the AP(access point)(see note below)

The Xtreamer will now remember the settings to connect to the once again hidden SSID

Note: - my WAP/router requires the access point to be restarted whenever changes are made to the configuration - yours may or may not.
